Beginnings - Holy Cross Council 8509
Holy Cross Council 8509 was founded in 1983 through the efforts of Al Livelsberger, Tony Petite, John Logan Sr. and Phil Lamendola, among others. It is named after the Church Parish, our home and spiritual center. Holy Cross Council works closely with the Parish and within the Kernersville Community. Plaque with Names
Each year, our council provides funding for local charities such as Operation LAMB, The Room at the Inn, The Shepherd Center, Crisis Control Ministries, as well as many others. We support seminarians through our RSVP Aluminum Recycling Program. We also support our local police, fire and emergency services personnel via cash donations, fund raisers and honor masses.
Who are the knights?
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.8 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

Holy Cross Council #8509 sponsors a variety of programs and events during the year focused on Church, Council, Membership, Youth and Family. From fund raising and charitable volunteer work to dances and parties for the kids, your local Knights are involved in a wide variety of programs.
How to Join
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.
